Session Thirty Nine
Village in the shadows

Following up on the news that strangers have kidnapped children of the raven tribe and their minder the party decides to investigate the second settelment from beyond the crown of thorns.

We follow Archie “Needles” Nalvahen to the nearest scout camp to the drow village, after gaining first-hand intel from the scouts posted here, Archie “Needles” Nalvahen goes and scouts the village himself with help of an invisibility spell from Belami Griffinmont returning with valuable information about layout and who is living there.

Although many known outlaws are identified it appears innocent civilians are among the mix.

With this knowledge Jonathon Fischer decides to do the honourable thing and march up to the front door to make our intentions clear and open.
In doing so the guards on watch at the time identifies us by name and opens fire immediately.

A quick trip through a tentacle dimension (thanks Belami Griffinmont) and we are back at the scout camp, with little option left we race in among the confusion under an invisibility spell.

The invisibility spell works well till…

Session Thirty Eight
The legacy of the lizard chicken trophy

Long term side effects of the banishment of the evil water elemental have been surmised.
For an unknown amount of time great hardship will befall the dwarf city, the lack of water will mean scarce harvest and worse the art of brewing become non-essential till such time that water is freely available again.

Still with the the threat eliminated celebration was had.

Belami Griffinmont and Archie “Needles” Nalvahen setup an amateur lizard chicken race, after recovering Adrik Torunn enjoyed trying his hand at how dwarfs 1000 years a part carry out prospecting and mining, Jonathon Fischer once fully back in the land of the living, corralled the party for some good times on the town. A win at the well established great lizard chicken races sees Jonathon Fischer gain a fair chunk of change. A second place in a pie eating contest for Adrik Torunn, a 10lb heavier Belami Griffinmont after sampling only the finest potato, mushroom and meet the city had to offer in its many different forms.

On the way home Jonathon Fischer returns the giants everlasting matchstick and has his sword “talon” returned, it appears the weapon contains the spirit of a Griffin. Good luck
Archie “Needles” Nalvahen manages to hunt down a giant bore which is happily received once all is back at the bastion.

Once back the reports are given to the party of the possible location of a Drow village hidden on the borders of the Ravens area. Further investigation required.

Session Thirty Seven
A Tail of Water and Ice

We start with Jonathon Fischer being taken by sentient water.
Leaving the party to chase after him through a maze of snow, while have a snowball fight with Water Mephit’s and them selfs, lest it kept the party warm.

After escaping the maze we found living quarters for Cultist and finally a large room where Jonathon Fischer is being held and tortured by a Huge water elemental.

Once the water elemental was defeated and Jonathon Fischer is stabilised, Adrik Torunn decided against the party’s plan to contact the Lady of Water and see if she could replace the now weaken malicious water elemental, and instead set about banishing the elemental from this area of the material plane altogether.

The immediate side effects were the temple collapsing and the lake affecting the dwarfs dissipating, Long term side effects unknown.

Something old, something new - The Journal of Belami Griffinmont
Something bold, someone got blew (cough, Jonathon, cough).

I will endeavour to keep my journal entries brief as I don’t have much time with active duties to pen down thoughts or similar and I doubt I will until after we meet the old world.

My first time seeing and meeting many of the crew we would be working with was at the docks as we were taking off. So much of my time has been spent in study, teaching those of the group who were ready to speak Ancient Lemurian, etc.
Our ship is called the Dragons Fangs and was a pirate ship that has been refit to suit our purposes. The Lady Khamis who is the leader of the expedition took centre stage with a quick wardrobe change as she boarded the ship. We waved goodbye to Umbra and her people and set sail.

Most of the voyage is uneventful and we have ample time to get to know many of the officials and crew members. Keeping myself comfortable, I made myself available to those of Elven decent amongst the crew and struck up some early friendships.

We were ambushed! Some rather ugly green skinned women – apparently hags – managed to charm the pant’s off one paladin Jonathon. I wonder if we can say he is no longer a virgin? By the by this ugly coven had snuck onboard the ship and managed to put us into slumber before trying to take advantage of the male members of the crew. We tackled them down and managed to take them out with a little bit of help from those on watch at the time. Still, we had to share our treasure – Which personally didn’t sit right with me considering we do so much in comparison that they need so many to match us in strength. But we are the heroes and what little we gain in treasure Im sure we gain in esteem.

A Wild storm, for days we are sick. I can do nothing but sit in my hammock and hope that it will soon pass.

Today we saw some pirates who tried to board us and take over our ship. They didn’t succeed thanks to a coup by half their ‘crew’ (which were taken from another ship they held at hostage). We gained new crew members from a far away land. The land that detestes magic and pins its hopes on cogs and gears. They fast become friends with Archie.
Those from the coup are given the pirate ship and sent on their way home.

The enchantress seems to have made a clique of her own already, taken to branding her ‘men’ with a little silken cravat. I am surprised at the lack of subtelty on her behalf, but what would you expect from university trained wizards really, they think we lack any style or flair when it is them who have learned boorish ways and uncouth displays of power such as this.

We found a pile of debris and managed to salvage much materials from it. Amongst the find was a chest with some magical equipment and gold. Again we had to split the wealth and this time our Paladin decided he would get the spoils – much to the behest of all the other members of the group except the dwarf. It is so hard to be fair when there could be so much fun to be had with such items, I do wish I had taken the slippers from before as I could see such use for them along with Max’s staff…

Our arrival at the old lands was met with a swarm of crystaline beasties, siimilar to pseudo dragons. They were simply gorgeous and I would have loved to catch one for a pet. Maybe I can suggest to Edgewood that he could take this form in his next incarnation?

We made our way uneventfully through the crown, well actually we did lose all magic for a short while. Quite an amazing phenomenon really – The thought of what must have gone into making something magical to that scale boggles the mind really.

Our party went to work straight away and soon we had discovered a location that was deemed suitable for a base for us to establish ourselves from. There was a port city to the east, a swamplands to the west and further beyond that some ruins. A crumbled spire to the north east and to the nort we noticed a rather large tree. Quickly scouting this area we noticed some strange markings and trinkets – a vague thought that we are in the middle of two tribal zones maybe?

There is a strange sensation coming from the large tree in the centre of our ruined compound. My familiar Edgewood seems utterly fascinated by it, I wonder if he is drawn to the fae energy that seems to enemate from it. Most confusing is that it seems to repell and attract at the same time! I have no skill in removing magic so I will investigate it later on.

I see no way to garner any attention from the enchantress, she has all but made herself unavailable to us! I have steped up and filled the gaps as best I could with my skills as a wizard. She locks herself away and is doing who knows what with her time! I would feel safer if we were alowed to check in on her to make sure nothing uncouth is happening. My mind is suspicious, but maybe that is just from my nose having been put well and truly out by her judgement of me. Others seem to have noticed and the people are making noises against her. Lets hope she doesn’t tarnsih my reputation via proxy.

Returning to town we handed in our findings to appropriate authorities. I’m glad to have that place behind us! It feels that we have finally completed something and I sense we are almost done with proving ourselves as fine adventurers. If only we could decide on a name for our group.
The only promise we have left to fill is that to the druid of the green dragon. Needles has come up with a plan that looks… interesting to say the least, I don’t doubt it would work but I do think we can take this beast and ground it fast as I sense we have grown far beyond what we were when we first came together. Still it is always worth trying all avenues and having backup plans is what keeps you alive – or at least that’s what my old mentor used to say.

We headed out and set up for the incoming attack. I can tell you my adrenaline was at it’s peak for the day of our wait for the dragons return to his lair. We had setup the contraption and waited.
First I could hear the beasts wings as it caught the air, and then I could hear it land on the edge of the tower. Many of the spells and traps we had laid out coming to naught if the Dragon didn’t land in it’s lair! We were spotted, our hiding place was torn asunder and the dragon breathed its foul and poisonous breath at us all. We took the brunt of it and I’m afraid to say some of our companions decided to turn ‘green’ and run. But our leader was steadfast as ever, calling upon his faith to back his mighty blows he beat the Dragon furiosuly! I took my lead from him as ever and directed the fire of my will upon the green beast as it started to take off into the sky – not once but twice I managed to focus my spells – my adrenaline was so high.
I have never seen anything so terifying as a beast of such power falling from the sky upon us. Terifying that I had been able to lay this creature of magic and esteem so low, what power do I have! What power do we all have for it would not have been if it wasn’t for the Paladin and myself standing strong side by side, not faltering in our trust of our skills, our strengths and our faith.

Upon our return to the Capital city I found that we were one of 3 groups who made it back, we were lucky. Soon we underwent debriefed about our adventures. I told them how we came together, thrown like random coins at beggars. How we found our place amongst strangers and how we grew stronger together even with the mistakes we made. I tried to tell a story for each of us, painting a picture of us all, bringing our skills to the fore and I hope it makes our case stronger.

At the ceromony in the town centre we were to learn who was going with the first ship, our position might have been strong, but things seemed in doubt. Then chaos struck! The damsel (always the damsel) was kidnapped and so was ‘a great treasure’! the would be kidnappers created a scene where they mirrored themselves so many times that we wouldn’t have been able to find the real one! But again together we worked to find them, follow them and I’m proud to say we found the damsel, detained the kidnappers and more. We were victorious and we are first.
